GGGHOST TOWNNN - The Many Deaths Of Dr Cocksucker (Party's Over, Enero 2015)

Un lujo para nosotros poder presentar la nueva referencia de la banda británica GGGHOST TOWNNN, con ellos estrenamos nuestro humilde Blog, allá por Marzo del año pasado. En aquella ocasión hicimos la reseña de su anterior álbum Shocktopussy, editado por el sello escoses Number4Door, que nos dejo perplejos con una brillantemente siniestra muestra de psych oscuro de gran calibre, ruidoso y reverberizado que podría llegar a ser una gran banda sonora para ambientar o una oscura película de espías o una tenebrosa "peli" de terror y que establecía las bases para esta secuela, este nuevo EP llamado "The Many Death of Dr. Cocksucker" en la que la banda se deja de ambigüedades, da un paso mas allá y se decanta totalmente por el terror.

GGGHOST TOWNNN es un cuarteto formado por Iosu Vakerizzo, a la voz, guitarra y teclados, Jason Hazael al bajo, Tom Moon a la batera y Laurie LLoyd a los teclados que ademas nos deja su voz, hablada que no cantada, en los dos temas que abren este álbum grabado, mezclado y producido por ellos mismo bajo los mas estrictos cánones del DIY y que editan en su propio sello Party's Over.

The Many Death of Dr. Cocksucker" es una perfecta secuela de su anterior trabajo, donde esta vez sus voces  reverberizadas son prácticamente recitadas y en las que vuelven a crear una atmósfera hipnótica y altamente psicodélica gracias a una batería pesada y lenta que marca el paso estrictamente, casi a ritmo Sioux, un linea de bajo psicotica e indispensable que lleva el peso de la melodía, una guitarra de notas largas y malefico twang surfero y unos teclados que tienen libertad para hacer lo que les de la gana, siempre aportando y dando aún mayor empaque a todo el trabajo y donde nos cuentan la historia real de un Doctor que opero los ojos de Iosu, su cantante, de un modo dolorosisimo y con secuelas molestisimas... En realidad es una historia donde el protagonista se venga macabra y oniricamente, del modo mas extraño y macabro posible de la mala praxis de este médico y que han sabido convertir en una lóbrega pieza de deseo que nos ha vuelto a enganchar irremisiblemente.

It is a luxury for us to bring you the new release from the British band GGGHOST TOWNNN. We started our humble little blog with them, around March last year. In that occasion we reviewed their previous album, Shocktopussy, released on the Scottish label Number4Door. The album left us speechless with its sinister display of top notch psych. Dark, noisy and full of reverb. Like a great soundtrack for an obscure spy flick or a horror movie, which set up the foundations for this sequel called “The Many Deaths of Dr Cocksucker” in which the band goes full elvis into the realm of horror.

GGGHOST TOWNNN is a four piece with Iosu Vakerizzo on guitar and vocals, Jason Hazael on bass, Tom Moon on drums and Laurie Lloyd on keyboards and vocals, spoken, not sung, on the first two tracks of this DIY album recorded, mixed and produced by them and released on Party’s Over.

The Many Death of Dr. Cocksucker" brings us five sombre cuts, with much more sane length than it’s predecessor, except the second track which goes on for eight minutes in which Laurie’s voice does wonders. It is also less noisy than the previous album. Hypnotic reverby vocals, nearly spoken. A psychedelic sound from heavy and relentless drums, with a Sioux-like rhythm, a psychotic bass line that carries the weight of the melody, a guitar with long notes and an evil surf twang, and keyboards with freedom to do whatever the hell they want, bringing the whole work together. They tell us the true story of a doctor that operated on Iosu’s eyes in a painful way and leaving all sort of bothersome problems in its aftermath. They take revenge on him in a macabre way in this nightmarish piece of desire that we can’t stop listening to.
